An amazing televison program was recently found in the archives. On October
26, 2001, just six weeks after 9-11 and on the same day the United States
passed the Patriot Act, RVTV cablecast a live call-in television show called
"Terrorism and National Security."

Pete Seda is currently in exile out of the country, most likely in Iran, and is wanted by the FBI.

This hour long program was part of a series called "Global to Local" brought to the valley by The Media Collective a student organization at Southern Oregon University.

Producer: The Media Collective
Director" Miles Everett
Moderator: Wes Brain
Panelists:
Pete Seda, urban forester (arborist) and Muslim educator
Bonnie Tout, lay speaker United Methodist Church, Guatamala expert
Peg Morton, Committee in Solidarity With the Central American People (CISCAP)
Nick Routledge, Food Not Lawns (a food collective)

A review from one person who recently saw this "rescued from the archives"
video:

It is October 26, 2001, the same day that Senators and Congressmen rushed to
enact the Patriot Act, later often admitting that they had voted for it
without reading it. In a panel discussion at Southern Oregon University,
Pete Seda and three international human rights workers exchange their views
on terroism and America's image abroad based on years of living among third
world peoples. Pete Seda states what he values about America, "freedom of
speech and freedom to be who we are." When asked for his definition of
terrorism, Seda answers that to him it means "to go after the innocent".

The panelists discuss sources of terrorism and talk about School of the
Americas, located in Ft. Benning, Georgia. www.soaw.org. One of the
panelists told of protesting with thousands of others demanding the closure
of the School of the Americas, but the only concrete response given by our
government was to give the School an entirely new name. Apparently, the
protests had led far too many Americans to learn about the activities of the
School which has served for decades to train Central and South American
military leaders, including among its graduates, Manuel Noriega. The presentation includes a video clip of the School of the Americas protest.

where the 'evil' is coming from
14.10.2005 - 13:09
Thanks! I saw the broadcast, actually from a tape my neighbor made. It was great, and I want to thank you personally. You did a neat job, and something in me 'clicked' -- more than ever before, on the subject of just what is wrong, where the 'evil' is coming from.

I would like to make a dvd of the program, and wonder whether you have one, and whether it is copyright protected from copying, etc. Do you know?

Thanks again, Tom
