Join us in Medford, Tuesday, Jan. 31

Dear Southern Oregon members and friends,

Please join the Oregon AFL-CIO and community allies this Tuesday, Jan. 31 in Medford to urge Congressman Greg Walden to stop taking from the poor to give to the rich! (Can you sense the Robin Hood theme?)

As early as this Wednesday, Feb. 1, Congressman Walden will cast a crucial vote on federal budget cuts that will take $40 billion from health care, child care, student loan assistance, child support enforcement and other critical services for the poor and middle class. These cuts will deeply hurt Southern Oregon's communities. They are designed to offset $70 billion in tax cuts for the wealthy. The other $30 billion will be added onto our national debt. This is wrong for working families!

Congressman Walden cast a deciding vote when the service cuts passed in the House of Representatives in December. Because the Senate and House passed different versions, Greg Walden has another chance to vote the right way on the reconciliation bill this week.

If you have questions, please contact Jennifer Sargent at the Oregon
AFL-CIO, 503-224-3169.

Also, be sure to contact Congressman Walden directly at:

Stage Call
30.01.2006 - 15:55
The groups has all their speakers all lined up, but don't have a Robin Hood. Is there anyone that you know that might be willing to show their theatrical side and put on a Robin Hood costume? It is crucial that we send the message to Congressman Walden that it is important to give to the poor instead of the rich.

If you are interested, please contact Eric at  oregonpfaw@gmail.com or (503) 789-8213.
