KOBI 5 Medford Oregon incorrectly tells viewers to throw away recalled Johnson and Johnson Medicine

Viewers watching the 6 pm local news on NBC KOBI Channel 5 were given incorrect information on what they should do if they have purchased any of the recalled children's medications. Over the last few days McNeil Consumer Healthcare found themselves involved in the middle of a significant recall involving many types of infant and children's Tylenol, Motrin, Zyrtec and Benadryl after an inspection of a Fort Washington Pennsylvania plant was found to be unsafe and dirty.

KOBI/KOTI NBC viewers were told to "throw away any recalled medications."

Consumers are actually advised to pour the medications into a plastic bag for disposal and then to keep the bottles and packaging of the recalled medications so they can receive reimbursement from the company. It is imperative that people do not dump medications down the sink or into the toilet as that eventually contaminates city water supplies.
